Death Clock ("we", "us", "our") operates the website death-clock.app. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable data protection laws.
2. Data We Collect
Calculator Data: When you use our life expectancy calculator, we collect the health and lifestyle information you provide (age, sex, exercise habits, diet, sleep, medical conditions, etc.). Anonymous calculations are stored with a session token and no personal identifier.
Account Data: If you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. We use Supabase Authentication which handles password security.
Usage Data: We collect anonymized analytics data including pages visited, features used, and affiliate link clicks. We do not use third-party tracking pixels or sell your data to advertisers.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: calculate your life expectancy estimate, save your results and goals if you create an account, provide personalized health tips and product recommendations, improve our calculation algorithm, and send you optional email updates (which you can unsubscribe from at any time).
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Consent: For optional cookies and marketing emails. Legitimate Interest: For core calculator functionality and service improvement. Contract: For account features and paid subscriptions.
5. Data Retention
Anonymous calculator data: retained for 12 months. Account data: retained while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time. After account deletion, data is permanently removed within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
Under GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to: access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, restrict or object to processing, data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format), and withdraw consent at any time. 8. Third-Party Services
We use: Supabase (database and authentication, EU servers), Stripe (payment processing), Vercel (hosting). We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Affiliate product links may use cookies set by the affiliate partner.
9. Data Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use Row Level Security (RLS) in our database so users can only access their own data. Health questionnaire answers are stored securely and never shared with third parties.
10. Children
Death Clock is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Significant changes will be communicated via email to registered users.
